Born in Cape Town.
He became a sought-after speaker al opposition meetings.
He was elected to Parliament as the United Party member for Maitland. Broke away from the UP in to form the liberal Progressive Party.
The party lost 1 1 of its 12 seats in Parliament – Suzman being the only Prog survivor.
Moved to Johannesburg to take up an appointment with the Anglo American Corporation.
Posted to Lusaka to head up Anglo’s operations in Zambia where he developed a good working relationship with President Kenneth Kaunda.
Zach returned to Parliament for a three-year spell as a Progressive Federal Party MP.
Became an executive-director of Anglo and headed the property, insurance and construction divisions.
He returned to Parliament as PFP leader.
Zach led the party during the elections.
